For parents
The voice stays on the device
NiaKids is a voice game for children aged 2 to 5. This note says what the game does with sound, and what it does not collect.
No accounts, ads, or analytics
There is no child account and no grown-up account. There are no ads. There is no analytics and no identifier used to follow a family.
The microphone
The microphone opens only during a visible invitation to speak. The phone or tablet asks permission to use it.
If there is no microphone, the game says so and the child can keep going by touching.
The sound
Speech is recognized on the device, with models that come inside the app. A capture lives in memory and is discarded after it is recognized.
The game does not save a recording. The voice is not sent to a server.
What the device remembers
On that device, and only there, the game can remember the language and the sound settings, which stories and animals were already finished, whether a grown-up opened the rest of the game on that device, and whether a grown-up accepted the notice inside the game.
That is not an account, and it does not leave the device.
This website
This website does not ask for a child's name or any other data. It has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics.
The language you pick, Spanish or English, is saved in this browser for the next visit. It is not sent.
A game
NiaKids is a game. It is not speech therapy, a diagnosis, or a pronunciation test.
If a word does not come out, the game continues after two tries at most. A miss by the recognizer belongs to the system, not to the child.
This note describes how NiaKids works today. Before the game is listed in a store, a formal child-privacy review is still to be done: a data-protection impact assessment, GDPR, Spain's LOPDGDD, and the kids policies of the stores.
